Reimagining Enterprise Software: Why We Bet on Unframe

When I met Shay, Larissa, and Adi, Unframe’s founders, I immediately knew they were building something fundamentally different. Their product story wasn’t just another take, it was a complete break from conventional thinking.

Nearly two years ago, I wrote about why I believed the way we build software was about to change. This was before tools like Cursor or GPT models capable of writing code, but the signals were already there.

By the time I met Unframe, many were claiming AI would soon replace developers. That never made sense. AI won’t replace developers; it will amplify the best ones and change how we build.

You can already see this shift with “vibe-coding”, where human-machine collaboration makes developers radically more productive. I first saw this pattern decades ago in chess (both a variant called “Advanced Chess” where human and AI collaborate, and more broadly in how AI helps human players analyze and prepare for games), and now it’s spreading to fields like medical imaging (one of our first seed investments).

But real enterprise software isn’t built by typing a prompt into Cursor. It needs scalable architecture, security, databases, hosting, permissions, logs, integrations—the messy, critical foundations.

If you need a custom Enterprise software solution, you traditionally had three options:

  • Hope there’s an off-the-shelf SaaS product that’s close enough to your needs, and reasonably priced.
  • Spend a fortune building it yourself (makes poor sense).
  • Pay a third-party vendor to build it for you. Expensive, often late, and costs never end as you need to maintain.

Unframe flips the model entirely.

At the core is Unframe’s Blueprint Approach: They write a detailed technical spec describing exactly what the software should do. Importantly, customers don’t have to create the blueprint themselves—Unframe translates business needs into a precise specification.

From there, their platform turns the blueprint into a fully working, enterprise-grade software product. Need changes? Update the blueprint, regenerate instantly.

Unframe’s own developers use the most advanced AI tools internally to accelerate their workflows—coding, debugging, architecture, and testing—compounding speed and quality.

From our first conversation, I was all-in. I had been searching for a company in this exact space for over a year. Out of many who wanted to invest, they chose us.

And here’s what’s even more telling: In 12 years of venture investing across more than 40 seed rounds, I’ve never seen a company land meaningful sales with major enterprises as fast as Unframe—less than a year from founding.

Unframe isn’t just moving fast — they’re redefining how custom Enterprise software gets built in the AI era. Watching this unfold will be fascinating.
